Mary is an experienced lawyer and legal adviser with extensive credentials in the health care industry. She helps hospitals, clinics, physicians, physician groups, health care systems and other providers in a broad range of legal matters, including complex transactions, mergers and acquisitions, patient care legal issues, credentialing and other medical staff issues, regulatory compliance, tax exemption and governance. She also has an interest in health care policy.

Mary has helped health care providers settle regulatory violations for a fraction of exposure, managed antitrust investigations of acquisitions, and achieved favorable resolutions to IRS tax-exempt audits. She uses a collaborative and engaging counseling style to help clients craft customized solutions to legal and business disputes. When unexpected crises arise, Mary helps clients manage potential liability as well as avoid negative and potentially damaging media exposure.

In addition to her work in private practice, Mary has 20 years of in-house counsel experience. As a result, she has developed a keen sense of the issues facing health care executives and gained the analytical, transactional and management skills required to meet these challenges.

Mary’s extensive in-house experience in the health care field has made her acutely aware of the unique budgetary pressures facing members of this industry. She understands that effective legal counsel, delivered with a strong commitment to client service and an eye toward restraining costs, is a key contributor to the success of any business.
